The Business and Industry Council for Emergency Planning and Preparedness (BICEPP) has just announced that the Special Recognition award will be issued for two projects that C&A has had the pleasure of supporting – the 5 Steps to Neighborhood Preparedness program and the Mass Fatality Management Guide for Healthcare Entities!
Spearheaded by the City of Los Angeles Emergency Management Department, the 5 Steps to Neighborhood Preparedness program is designed to give community members the information and guidance needed to create neighborhood level disaster plans. The program teaches how, in five relatively easy steps, a plan can be created that helps neighbors take care of one another until help arrives.
The second award honors the Los Angeles County EMS Agency’s Mass Fatality Management Guide for Healthcare Entities. The pioneering guide is meant to serve as a comprehensive resource for healthcare partners to create facility specific mass fatality plans. It includes scalable, tiered plan activation requirements; practices for expedited decedent processing; cultural and religious considerations; and coordination with Family Assistance Centers and Family Information Centers.
