What is the best way to spend an afternoon? With another fun, successful Women in Homeland Security (WHS) luncheon of course! Women from throughout the Southland – from the Valley to the Inland Empire and nearly everywhere in between – came together to learn about the WHS organization, listen to our engaging speaker, and build relationships with one another. We were honored to have FBI Victim Specialist Claire Balanay as our keynote speaker, sharing insights on the Victim Assistance program and learnings from the San Bernardino Inland Regional Center incidents.
Our Southern California Chapter President Michelle Constant announced those serving on the Chapter’s Inaugural Board of Directors: Naomi Goldman, NLG Communications as the Marketing Director; Mona Bontty, California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services as the Programs Director; and Jeanne O’Donnell, Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management as the Membership Director. We thank these women for assuming leadership positions and volunteering to navigate our chapter through its first year. Our leadership will work to finalize the Chapter bylaws, expand the membership base, and coordinate additional networking events for 2017.
The luncheon was held at Farnsworth Park in Altadena thanks to sponsorship from the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management. Photos of this and future events can be found here.
WHS SoCal will hold its next networking opportunity this summer. Details will be provided in the coming months.
